Cab dollies?
I know a while back I had seen a thread with custom fabed cab dollies and I was wondering if anyone had any pics of them still? I'm getting ideas together to fab one of my own and I need pics to help me out.

Here's what I made. I don't have dimensions, I just marked, cut, welded and drilled.

Here's what I used:
I made a 1"x1" metel frame in the shape that the truck frame is. It bolts right to the cab, the same way the truck frame does. I used heavy-duty 6" cast iron castors on all 4 corners. The fronts swivel, the rears do not. If I were to do it again, I would make the rears swivel. This cab dolly worked excellent for me. It even went over gravel quite well. Unfortunatly, I built it for 67-72's only, so it will not fit any other cabs(that I know of). My 72 cab is done and back on the truck, so this thing is no longer a use to me. Build one that is adjustable, so you can use it for other trucks...

I used Kenneth's (XXL) plans to make my own dolly except i tweaked it so that I could put the cab on and off the frame by lowering the frame. (Suspension was out at this point). I made it so that the dolly was not interfering with the mounting bolts and it was high enough to clear the rear frame rails.

You can get really nice 5" poly over aluminum Albion 1000# casters from Surpluscenter.com for $12 each. I think you would want to make it taller so you can more easily apply paint or do work to the rocker and floor area.

Where are you in Austin? My truck is at a friend's body shop in South Austin.

![]() ![]() ![]() I had originally picked up some awesome 6" 2500# casters on Ebay for the project, then realized I was overengineering it a bit. Of course... those bad boys are still sitting in the box I got them in. So much for economy ![]()
