drivetrain help
i have aquired a 454 for my 72 2wd blazer it currently has a 350/4spd i am going with the 454 but i cannot decide which trans to use i have a 700r4 and a th400 what all will it take to put the th400 in their i have never had one before and i know it takes some kind of special thing for the kickdown can anyone help me the truck also has a 307 gear but if i use the 700r4 i will swap in a 373

does a sbc and a bbc use the same dist caps? sorry if it is a stupid ? but i have never had a bbc before.

The 454 even uses the same distributor as the small block, so caps and stuff are the same.
I used a Th400 behind my 454 swap in my truck. It takes an electrical kickdown rather than a cable like normal trans use. I bought the Lokar kit and am very happy with it. A good tranny shop can easily build a 700R4 that will live behind that engine, but it will cost you some more money than a Th400 build will.

SB & BB dists. will interchange. Kickdown is electric-works off switch mounted on gas feed bracket-you should already have it-one wire to power switch on-one wire to connection on trans (driver side). The switch can still be purchased from GM. Turbo 400 will need an adapter between trans and tranfer(so will 700)

thanks guys neither the 700r4 or the th400 needs built its just a matter of choosing which one i want to use now. got anu opinions?
