Spark plug recomendations?
Looking to see what you guys would run with this combo.
.060 over 350, flat tops 4 valve reliefs, moly rings 882 heads, stock rework Summit k-1104 cam 224/224 @ .050 Edel performer rpm and 600 cfm 4 barrel 3/4 "shortie" headers and flow exhaust dumped at the axle The reason I ask is I'm running R43TS's right now, a few of them worked loose and caused me to burn the plug wires up. I tightened them up, got new wires and now it wont start. I think I need new plugs and was going to go up to the R45TS's b/c these are really black and dark colored on the electrode. That means its too rich right? I've always ran a TS plug on the old engine, but it had 305 heads on it? Do the 882's require a different plug?? Thanks Paul

The heads take the same type of plugs as the 305 heads, I would run a 44 instead of jumping from the 43 to a 45, unless there is no R44TS.

I'm glad you guys like NGK plugs. Personally I use AC's, so if you can help me out with some numbers that would be great! I can cross them, so it dosent matter what brand, I just want to know what other people are using sucessfully.

AC Delco!! Nothing beats quality Declo GM replacements!! lol well, AC Delco are the only plugs that ever do good on ol red; my dad has tried every stinking expensive spark plug that exists, and none work as well as AC Delco. Just one of the odd nuances of Ol Red...

I had kind of the same set up in an 88 monte carlo with 10:1 compretion had the same problem you are and the only thing that would last were AC R45TS, Accel, and the Champion truck plugs. I like AC because the were cheaper. I tried them all NGK, Bosh, split fire, even the AC rapid fire and none would last as long.

FYI, looking around at plugs at work the other day, some a/c delco's had "NGK" stamped on them Yup, they are made by NGK.

R45TS AC Delco are the only plugs i run in my vehicles and i prefer the R45 Unless your running Nitrous There plenty hot.

I use to be stuck on AUTOLITES and I do still like them, but last time, I put AC in my truck and its been fine, I dont think you will see much difference in plugs. I just used the ones that book callled for on my truck, I dont remember the size. If yours are showing rich, you may need to look into CARB adjustments and not the plugs.
