Where to get T-Case seals - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a seal or gasket go out somewhere between my t-case and transmission, leaks pretty bad while the engine is running, I gotta fix it quickly because I need the truck for drive next weekend for a 4x4 event which it will be towing the samurai down.

I don't know if Advance auto carries these things or not, or will I have to get them from a specialty drivetrain shop?

My front output seal and rear slipyoke seal were leaking some, so i'm going to fix those since I will have to pull the t-case anyway.

I had a 77 that leaked bad there-after tearing it down and chasing around town looking for those seals--finally ended up buying a roll of gasket material and made my own-used what was left of the old one for a template. Kinda tricky to get the old one off in less that a million pieces,but used a pencil to trace and a sharp razor blade to cut-worked good. Not much help to you?-but maybe a "plan B"!

There are two different gaskets, one for each end of the adapter. There is also a seal in one end of the adapter, although I think some of the later trucks had two but I think the seal are the same at both ends. If you can't find them local you can get them form Border Parts in Spring Valley, CA: 619-461-0075.

I have gotten gaskets for transfer cases from a place in Ca.
Stick Only
9900 Glenoaks Blvd., No 2
Sun Valley ca 91352
.
For the seals, go to a bearing supply place and you will get them cheaper then a auto parts store. same for bearings.

I see advance auto carries the seals, but couldn't find the gaskets for the adapter.

Would just using some silicone sealant work? I know on my samurai all they use is sealant, no gasket of any kind.

I have gasket material laying around here somewhere, and a good trick to use is to place it over the item that needs the gasket and go around lightly tapping the edges with a hammer so that it leaves an indention of the surface and if the edge is sharp it will just about cut it for you.

Seals weren't bad, my adapter and transmission were coming apart, bolts were loose. So I pulled the bolts out, cleaned them and the holes and applied a generous amount of loc-tite and reinstalled them.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
