Dumb question about HEI
The distributor that was in my '72 when I bought it has the coil in the distributor cap. Is that one of the HEI units? Which of the HEI units is best, the coil in cap type, or the one with a separate coil? Can the coil in cap unit be changed to a separate coil type by replacing the cap with a different type?

The in cap HEI units are extremely good units, much cleaner install too, in my opinion

You can get a convert a cap to use a seperate coil!

You can also get aftermarket incap installs too,and move up to an accell or mallory,or whatever coil.Like This one
