SBC starter
I hope you guys can help with this. I have a '69 Burb with a 350/400. I bought a starter last night to replace my existing one. The starter that is currently in there has the bolt holes directly across from each other at the same height or length to the block. The one I bought has the holes directly across from each other, but they are at different lengths or heights. Of course I did not notice this until it was too late. Does anybody know what to ask the parts person which starter I need? I know that this isn't the original engine from the truck.
Thanks for the help. I need to fix this tonight... Chris |

Best if you can take the old starter to the parts store so they can match it.

krue is right bolt are cheep. the best though is a stagerd bolt pattern starter as long as your block is drilled for it. BB starters have more torque and will last longer (generaly)

I forgot to ask earlier, which wire do we not need if we have an HEI? I am not going to have time tonight to trace them out...
Thanks, Chris |
