A guy around here has a tilt collum for sale but how do you tell the difference?

At the bottom of the column, where the splined area connects to the intermediate shaft (the part under the hood), a van tilt will measure 4 3/8" to 4 1/2" and a truck column will only measure 2".

Is your 72 the juicy green short box that was parked on 3rd Ave in Saskatoon on Cruise Sunday last summer in 04? That is one nice truck. I waited around to meet and chat with you but we didn't get to see each other.
