Just glad to be here...
Hello all,
Long time lurker on the board, first time posting. Just thought I'd say Hi and post a picture of my pride and joy. She's a '69 K5 CST with 350/350/Np205 and 3.73s. Doublewall top too. I bought her with about 60,000 original miles, and she just passed 100,000 a few months ago. Found it in Yakima, WA with very little rust. It was originally a police vehicle and had a funky paint job. The guy I bought from put a metallic rootbeer color that i've grown fond of, but it's thin and needs to be repainted. Since I got her, i've replaced the original engine with a new GM Goodwrench (not that beefy, but with HEI ignition and dual exhaust), 4" Rancho lift, 35" BFG's on 15x8 American Racing wheels. Added the rollbar and Kayline softtop. Replace the original seats with buckets + console from a 1999 Tahoe. It didn't come with a read bench seat, so I put some forward-folding buckets on custom mounting bracket. I cut the dash (I know I know - shame on me) and put in modern CD player and speakers in the rear interior panels. Anyways, she's not shined up here and looking her best, but I haven't had access to a digital camera lately. I'm lucky to have found this site, for the longest time I was afraid of doing this resto without any help! |

Welcome from the other side of the lake. You've got a nice looking rig there. Glad you found the board.
Check out the local club - Classic GM Trucks of Washington - http://classicgmtrucks.net/. We have get togethers every now and then. Summer's coming and everyone is getting itchy to show off their rigs in the sun. There are quite a few of us in the Puget Sound and a few guys south and east as well.

Welcome and great looking Blazer. You might jump over to www.ck5.com and go to the 69-72 Blazer section, they have a post going that details the differences of the 69 K5 compared to the 70-72's.

Police colors
Hey Jimmy72,
It wasn't a black + white patrol car - that much i'm sure of. Guessing from the chips in the paint, it was an ugly mute yellow ochre with some kind of red stripes??? Real weird. I've never seen a service truck of any kind painted in this way, but I understand it wasn't a street patroller. More of like a forest road/way-out-in-the-boonies rig. Thankfully, there aren't any holes in the hardtop from a lightbar. But the police department did extend the framerails and installed a custom bumper for a winch. I removed all that when i got the truck.

Nice looking '69.
I'm glad to see there is another one that has been taken care of. Like was said before, www.ck5.com is a good site. There is another thread on that blazer forum for getting a number of '69s still out on the road. Though, you'll have to be a member to post in that section. |
