Tilt column with indicator For OD tranny
I put a 700r4 in my 70 c/10. At the time it has a B&M megashifter but it looks really out of place for the looks I am shooting for. I would like have a stock look, newer stock items are cool because the parts look as though they belong there, nice, clean, and updated without being too "flashy". 70's did not come available with an OD so the shift indicator is going to be incorrect if I use the stock column for that year. Is there a later model column (tilt preferably) that can be installed in our trucks that has an OD indicator and has the linkage to work with a 700r4?

You can get an indicator for a stock column. I'm not sure the name though. The truck shop maybe.

cool, found it online. I switched my truck from a manual to the 700r4, will all the linkage from a 1970 truck with the TH350 work properly with the newer transmission or do modifications need to be made?

I used to work A&P for a while, but now I do all electrical. Worked on everything from 727 all the way on up to 777 and 747-400's. Mostly working scarebus A319 & 320 currently though. I will try and post some pictures of the shifter, I might sell it in the future but dont really have the time to install the column with the shifter at the time. It looks good just a little too flashy for my likes.

Post a link of the indicator if you find one. I too am installing the 700R4 in my truck and will be needing one soon.

Actually SDkid had mentioned the Truck Shop, they are out of Orange in Southern California. I happened to have their catalog so I thumbed through it and sure enough they sell a column indicator for a 700r4. I Left their catalog at work so I dont have their web adress for you but a google search should turn it up. Here is a few picks of the B&M truck megashifter, sitting a bit high in my truck because it is on the old manual high-hump, (having trouble locating a low hump so don't mind the big whole in the floor) =)

Flaming River sells O/D indicator lenses for truck/van tilts, and they were only around 25 bucks or so if I remember correcly. Check em out online.

Could someone please post the link to the Truck Shop place? I cannot seem to find the one that sells the indicator for our trucks.

I didn't see where you could order to many parts on line though. You can order a catalog from them. I've purchased from them at the Portland swap meet. With the exception of their tail light gaskets the quality has been pretty good so far. Last edited by mr402; 03-21-2005 at 01:05 AM. |
