73-77 IFS swap

I have a 77 half ton chevy frame and running gear. Would it be a farily simple install to put the IFS of that frame onto my 55? I think I heard somewhere that it was almost a bolt in set up but I am not sure.

It might be just as easy to swap to the '77 frame. I have a short '73 under my '58 body. The cab mounts line-up (requires a spacer) but you have to move the rear spring hangers forward to line-up the rear axle with the fender openings.

Have a look...

It's sitting kinda tall out front but it'll drop right down with a motor and tranny in place. I've actually been thinkin' of putting that body BACK on a '58 31 frame.

Its almost a bolt in for a 55 1st. But it takes narrowing the front frame rails to get it into a 55 2nd -59. I did it in my 58 and its a lot of work. But you do end up with a truck front end in your truck.
