What did you get done?

Since I have been slacking lately due to travel, I thought I better get this going on time for a change. Actually it's early, but I won't be back till late so I thought I would do it now.

I worked in my yard as much as I could yesterday. I got up early and spent some time getting my pool ready for the season. After that I put down a round of turf builder on my grass, then did spot control on the weeds that survived the weed & feed I put down last month.

This morning I washed a couple of trucks and went to church. Now I have to go run some service calls and shop for another palm tree.

What did you get done?

i didnt do a darn thing on the 86 friday night i came in and relaxed. saturday the dodge caravan had the check engine light on so i borrowed a scan tool and discovered it was a bad 02 sensor so i got that thing and switched that out and reset the comp then it was the fun of front and rear brakes. Ive been letting my ex wife drive the van lately cause her car went to the scrapper and now shes bent on destroying the van. Once that was all done i went to a surprise 50th birthday party for a friend of mine and i was the one who had to lure her there, so my girlfriend and i had fun with that.. Today was spent recovering from last night lol and i went and took my daughter down to get a new bike. Later my buddy wants to tow his Mitsubishi here so he can swap out a transmission in my yard .Tonight ill prolly meet the girlfriend for coffee and cake.. shes working odd hours this week and i wont see her much lol

Wow i actually was semi productive. Saturday I hauled a bedload of my older cousin's crap from his trailor waaay out one way to his storage unit waaaay out another way. Then I discovered i might be able to pick up a parts truck soon. Sunday (today) I washed my truck with great detail. Next weekend (or sooner) i'm gonna do the interior. Tonight I have to write my acceptance speech for becoming Battalion Commander for next year in JROTC.
Good stuff all around this weekend, indeed.

I changed the ignition cylinder and the glove-box lock. She is now parked for a good while. I can't afford $160 IN A WEEK for gas. I'm driving my bro's 76 Honda Civic CVCC station wagon from now on. 25mpg beats 8.5 any day.

Had my aunt and uncle and cousins come down. Did not do anything on the truck really. Been raining and cloudy alot. Finally got sunny and very nice couple of hours ago. Studying for my finals. I washed my '79 yesterday and got about 80 pounds of mud and crap off of it. Going to go to my dads for dinner.

This week I got my 454 back from my engine builder. It is now on the stand and will be painted sometime this upcoming week or next weekend. It was put on the dyno and produced 515 HP @ 6000 RPM & 525 lbs/tq @ 4500 RPM. I can't wait to drive the damn thing!

I then worked all day Saturday, then did some clothes (ie wedding) shopping with the fiance that evening. Sunday I relaxed and then organized my garage a little.

I got the nose off, pulled the 6.2L/TH400, and called it a day.

This weekend I:

Installed new gas tank
Removed vortec 350 from 79
Transplanted 350 into the 78
Swaped the melonized gear for the distributor from the 79 to the 78 [for the roller cam]
Put the new battery cables on
Put new radiator hoses on
Wired up the starter, MSD ignition and electric fuel pump
Installed the alternator and belts
And right now Im getting ready to stab the distributor in

Only problem so far has been the fuel pump test. Pump isen't running. Also when I went to put the power steering pump on when I touched the pump to the engine it sparked- so somthing is pretty wrong in the wiring, now to figure out what...

I tore the 80 down to the frame today Cab is now sitting on sawhorses, I really hope it doesn't get windy and knock it off!

Amazingly enough, I didn't warp the cab when I pulled it off, WOOHOO!

As soon as the sand blaster gets here, I can start getting her done, I've got a June deadline!

replaced the body mounts on a k5
welded up a battery trey for the 4x4 to replace the warped piece of plywood
finished cutting my front fenders
chopped about 4 inches off the bottom of the front bumper
flipped some overload springs in the k5 to get a little more flex

Well I worked overtime all weekend. I work 4 days of 10 hrs on and have 3 days off. This week I worked 70 hrs! 10 of it being time and 1/2, and 20 being DOUBLE TIME! The wife agreed that I can use a few hundred of that for truck parts . I've got to figure out why my truck has died on me four times in the past few weeks . I was towing heavy loads at the time, but wasn't pushing it hard. That is all. David

truck related :

a few weeks ago , I dismantled the front fenders on my 1982 Burb , but I had to grind off the inner fenders from the fenders , as the bolts just turned around...

I've looked to put 1981-1987 inner fender on 1973-1980 fenders : it works !

the only thing to do is to make new holes on the inner fender outer lip , the one that goes on the fender...

But I'll make a new topic on that one , once I have measured everything ( if it works ... )

You might ask why I'm using 1981-1987 inner fenders on 1973-1980 fenders , he ?

because I'm a kind of "El Cheapo guy" , and inner fenders cost a lot of €€€ here in Europe , and are not so easily to found by scrap yards , that's why

Saturday I went to a swap meet in New Braunfels, Tx. Lots of good stuff, but too little money. Story of my life. The sunburn was free, though...

Sunday I went to a different swap meet here in San Antonio. There was hardly anyone there. They were probably all in New Braunfels. I visited my Dad's grave on the way home. He has been dead for almost a year now, and I have not been in a long time.

I also worked on the truck a little. I (hopefully) fixed the leak between the heater hose and the heater core.

I also finished up the last couple of little things on the installation of my rebuilt transmission. When I tried to test drive it, it was really hard to pull from Park to Drive, and I couldn't get it to pull into Second or First at all. I pulled the linkage loose to try to figure out if it was the linkage or the transmission, and had the same problem trying to shift it from underneath the truck. Suddenly I heard something hit the inside of the pan, and now it shifts normally. Uh oh. That can't be good.

I called my mechanic friend who had it rebuilt by a buddy of his. He is quite upset with the rebuilder, and plans to come by my house tonight to pull the pan and fix it.

Everything that can go wrong on my truck always does. Yesterday was no exception.

Sat evening after work i got the main portion of my speaker box built. have some old 12s that have been sitting in their boxes for the past 3 years so i figured its time to get them setup and what better place than my burb. i wasnt able to get them finished since i dont have a way to get a proper sizing of the backing where the lip of the speaker sat in so i will hopefully get that sometime this week...
sunday just went to a carnival and put the 3 yr old daughter on some rides...
