1978 Chevrolet Fleetside Parts Truck - Texas

A friend recently lost his 78 due to his nephew's irresponsible acts. The truck is totaled from a front end crash. He is going to pull the motor but the rest is up for grabs. Good items available with only wear include one door, interior, entire bed, tailgate, and rear-end.

The truck is in East Texas. He works a lot of hours and cannot make freight arrangements.

Will try to get him to take some pictures.

E-mail or PM me for details.

It is a long bed. I believe one door panel is still in good shape. I will talk to him tomorrow and try to get pics.

I guessing it has a bench seat it, what’s the color and the condition?
Also how is the rear bumper, is it chrome or an iron piece of work?
Pic if possible please.

Is this a Cheyenne? What trim level is it? I might need the bezel and dash plate if '80 chevy passes on those.

I didn't get a chance to see him today, but I will tomorrow. I will get an answer to all of your questions.

Damn, you guys are seriously interested. I didn't think it would bring that much attention. That's good, he was going to sell it to a salvage yard.

Is somone interested in buying it and parting it out to the others? I would do it but my job keeps me from having time.

I have one at my ex-inlaws. Will be over there this weekend pulling a motor. If interested, I can take pics. I think it came off of a 78. It's a white short fleet bed.

Automatic? Looking for a tilt steering column without cruise on the column and all of the linkage for the tranny. I'm going from a standard 3 on the tree to an auto.

Answers to questions but no pics until next week.

It is a long bed. The tailgate is in good shape.

He replaced the rear end gears several years ago to improve gas mileage. He believes they are 3.07.

The driver's side door is the good one.

It has a bench seat and the interior color is blue.

The truck is a Cheyenne Big 10 but it was repainted several years ago and the exterior logos were removed.

It is an automatic and as far as he knows the linkage is good.

No tilt column.

No cruise control.

Intstrument panel has gauges and they are in good shape.

He will take pics this weekend and I hope to have them up early next week. If he cannot get around to it I will go see him Monday or Tuesday and get you pictures. If you have specific requests for pics, let me know.

Well I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is this. There will not be any parts available to any of you from this truck.

The good news is that it will not be scrapped. This past weekend he enlisted his son's help in taking digital pictures. The son became nostalgic about the truck and had decided to find a back-end wrecked 78 and combine them. He's already pulled the truck over to his house and has begun the process.

Thanks for your interest and sorry if anyone got their hopes up. I was trying to keep it out of the scrap yard.
