Most efficient way to drop my truck 2"?
Hey.. my 72 SWB is a 3/4ton to 1/2 ton conversion. It has an independant front end out of a 73-87 chevy pickup, and 3/4 leaf springs in the rear.
It left me with this stance: It has a 2" rake, which I want to reduce to 1.5", so it'd have a give it a 2/2.5" drop. What is the most efficient way to do this? Buy springs for the front, and have the leafs de-arched? I rarely carry much in the back of my truck, so load isnt an issue. Budget is an issue... how much would it cost? Thanks guys!

Check your local Yellow pages for a spring shop. They can Dearch em for under 100 dollars I would guess. I had mine done for $20 a side. I took the whole pack to them. But you can take the truck right there and it shouldnt cost much more. I would just let them do it if the truck is complete. My frame was totally dissassembled.
Or you could do a axel flip and get that truck to hug the ground. That would give you 5" min. Later, Mario

damn nice truck.
ill take your word for it. but thats looks like a hella lot more than a 2" rake. I would go for a 4/5 on that bad dog but thats just me. I like them low. I dont know mutch about that year truck. but im gessing you could mabby do a 2" shacle drop and take out the over loads in the rear for a 2.5

haha... I've measured it. The angle makes it look goofy. Its 3" off the tire in the front, 5" off the tire in the back My truck is street/ strip. I bracket race it on weekends, and Im trying to keep an agressive looking stance. Im all for slammed trucks... I jus wanna keep this one with a little clearance. Can you explain what a Shackle drop is? Im sorry.. I dont know a thing about suspension!

longer rear leaf spring shackle. and it will have to be about 4" longer that the stock one to drop the truck 2". becuse by moving only one side of the leaf spring how ever mutch you move it it only efects the truck by half.
and the over loads on 3/4 springs are usually 1/2" think if not more
