Drum Brakes
I am new to the old school world and new to this site..
Let me start off by saying..Hi my name is Charlie and I am an old car/truck addict. I currently have a 70 Chevelle and a 68 C10 SWB Fleet. I am trying to replace the wheel cylinders on the front of my truck and having problems getting the drums off. Is there a special technique? The rear slide right off. Help please..I will post some pictures tonight. |

The fronts are usually rivited to the hubs (factory). So you will have to pull the whole hub w\drum. To make it easier for next time grind off the rivets and pop them out.

can I just drill the rivets out without taking off the hubs?

IMHO I would pull the hubs, remove rivets and drum, inspect and repack the wheel bearings since you are almost there anyway. At least this one time. Might save some problems in the future.
