humble request regarding 1971 p/u
Well, it is time again to put my truck up for sale. I didn't explain the reasons before, but this time I will.
Two months ago my second wife and I started down the road of divorce. I knew that I'd not be able to keep the truck and keep food in the mouths of my two kids (from my first marriage). Since marching down that road two months ago, many things have been said and my eyes have opened to some of my own faults. Many of you believe that there are many other "fish in the sea" but this one I've known for the last few years is truly amazing and I don't want to lose her. Turns out that she's felt a bit neglected due to my spending habits and the money I've used toward this ride has made her slightly bitter. Selling it is not the answer to our marriage woes, but getting rid of it could go a long way toward breaking down some walls. So my request is for prayer (for those of you who do so) as I have again listed this truck for sale, this time not to feed my kids but hopefully open a door for some productive conversation with my wife. She's not asked me to do this, it is just something I feel is the right thing to do. There are lots of great trucks out there, not so many great and invaluable women. Without any offense, hope that I depart from this board for a while, because my wife and I are busy patching up our relationship. Thanks ya'all. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=39409

Wish that relationships were as easy to fix as the trucks are.

Two months ago I didn't even get a single bid, w/ 1200+ views. Just want to see it go at this point... hopefully you are right. Can't afford it anyway if she leaves... won't want it around if she stays. Besides that, the previous owner was my step daughter's dad... karma ya know?

BEst of luck with everything. Its probably cheaper and easier to just find another truck in the future, then it is to find a new wife. Hope all works well for you

Hope it all works for the best. I'm not much on prayer, but I'll have a beer for you. Here's to you, and here's to yours. Good luck to you from us.

Jeff, sorry to hear of your troubles. I have never met your Missus but must say I am shocked. The total devotion to your family that I sensed in you makes it all so hard to believe. I admit my truck has caused some marital problems from time to time. The words "single minded obsession" come to mind. To be honest, I'd blow my truck up before I let it ruin my marriage. I wish you the best for your Family.
Best Regards Rich

If you feel that selling it will help w/your relationship, then do it.
But . . ... First let her read your opening statement explaining the logic that's driving your decision. That alone should go along way to show you want things to work out for the both of you & that losing the truck is a small sacrifice compared to losing her.

Thanks!
For the thoughts, wishes, prayers and BEERs! Truck sold overnight, literally. In my humble opinion, a good truck is easier to find than a good woman. She was shocked when I told her it sold this morning, probably more shocked to know that I listed it.
It's all good. Would have had to sell it eventually if the divorce went through, would not have been able to really enjoy it knowing there was a small grudge against it. I will have another one, no doubt about that! Will check in on this board now and then just to see what's up! AND NOTE... it is not that she is against toys, we just have kids to take care of and I do have another toy that I play with more often (attached). In the time we've been married, she's not gotten anything... just need to play fair, that's all! These shots were taken on Saturday, that's her on the back.

This thread makes you think about how much other stuff there is in life other than these old trucks, good luck with everything.

I did the same thing back in 1995. Seems like I was more into my car business than with her for a number of years. She told me she was moving out and was gone when the realtor sign was in the front yard when I came home from the shop late one night. What a shock to me. So my first knee jerk reaction was to sell the car that I had owned and loved and had taken all my extra cash and time for 10 years. I knew she knew this car was my baby and I felt this was the problem and the solution to trying to win her back. Made this decision the very same day, didn't tell her, put it in the paper and it was gone by 6 am the next morning with the first phone call. Now I don't like to dwell on this much anymore but I sold everything together for one price which included my 10 year collection of rare NOS 58 Chevrolet parts, my 2 extra 58 cars, and my frame off 58 Impala convertible about 85% finished with 348 tri power with correct air cleaner, factory air, and all numbers matching. The NOS parts today would be worth what I sold everything for but that car as nice as it was and rare would be a 100k plus today. My at the moment depression and thinking sell the car thing netted a whopping $15,000 that Sunday morning. Funny thing was my wife still sold our new house, moved out and then I find out about her boyfriend of 8 years. But I guess I can blame myself for spending the time restoring cars and ignoring her at that time in my life. We eventually got back together and I replaced the 58 with a 57 convertible project that may never get done since I spend quality time as needed now. But the 57 will never be the effort and love I put in that 58 Impala nor a one of a kind Chevy.
We all never know what we would do in those situations, I wish now I would have just waited and tried to see the whole picture unfold first. Someday though all the earthly possesions we try to aquire and cherish won't mean a thing when were gone from here. Just as it has been said since the beginning.
