new tires for the 71 C20......????
I know, I know.....another tire and rim thread....sorry....
Anyways, the more I look at the truck after the new paint, interior and drivetrain, I think I need to replace the rims and tires. The tires I have still have gobs of tread, but are beginning to show cracks in the treads, so..... Anyways, I don't want 'flashy; rims, so I was thinking of running some white steel U.S. Wheels. I think they were called 'wagon wheels' back in the day... Well, I also want to put as tall a tire as possible to bring my RPMs down on the freeway. I have the 4L60E now, but with the 4.11:1 rear, it is still not what I want. I have 245/75-18s now on stock rims. I want to go with 285/75-16s. I am thinking I need at least an 8" wide rim, maybe even 10"? Should I go 17" since I am changing all four anyways? What is the stock width? 6", or 6.5"? Does anyone have this size on their trucks? Any tips or suggestions? What backspacing on a 8" wide rim would be correct? 5"? I have coil rear. Thanks guys!
