What did you get done?
I had a fun weekend. Being the good father that I am I taught my daughter the virtue of a sneak attack. The girls on her volleyball team had planned a sleep over and a TP party on Saturday night. The TP party was to get revenge on their sister team. Somehow the word got out that they were coming, so the other team was expecting them on Saturday.
Instead I gathered up a small groupf of her teammates and we went out on "friday" night. They hit three houses and did a pretty good job on two. The last one they ran low on paper so it wasn't quit as good. This left the other team "assuming" the revenge was over. It was not! They went back out last night and hit four more team members. One hause was described as looking like Winter Wonderland. Today I did the yard and grilled for a few family members. We hung out at the pool and had a great day despite the heat.... What did you get done?

Thursday night after work I installed new rotors, bearings and brake pads on the front of my Ranger. Friday I painted my PS pump & alternator brackets, painted my headers, and ran some of my fuel line. I then went to a local car show and catched Dukes of Hazzard afterwards. Saturday I worked eight hours at my second job, came home, and installed my headers and alternator. Sunday, I installed new rotors and pads on the wifes Civic, I then helped a buddy tear out all his carpet tack strips and trim from his new house, and also helped him take out the kitchen cabinets, counters, appliances, and sub-floor. I am beat to say the least...very busy (but productive) weekend!

I had to replace my PS pressure line.. that was an easy job.. then i spend about 7 hours washing my truck..
I washed it.. 2000grit wet sanded it.. then did the mothers 3 step cut, polish, and wax.. its looking good.. Never managed to fix the water spots though.. Shined up the inside all nice too.. I figure its good for now.. I am going to order some cab-corners.. then start doing the body work and get it painted sometime this winter/fall.. Nice job on the TP!.. LOL |

went a watched the new dukes of hazzard movie, looked at an 80 shortbed chevy, it had a newly rebuilt 350 motor dynoed at 400 horsepower, and a rebuilt tranny ,i think eagle 028 wheels, really really straight body, stock bucket seats, and a cowl hood, nothing rusted threw, but a little surface rust, he wants $2500 ,thought about buying it,but i am not going to buy it and went to church, i am also pretty sure i saw barry switzer in person today also

Today I went to a Pontiac Show, it was pretty cool. I also saw the Blue Angels fly for Seafair.
When I got home, I washed my dually. It's been sitting under a tree since I got back from my last trip to Montana and was getting pretty filthy. I took the door rub strips off (aftermarket crap) but I still need to rub the tape off...

Finished shaving the body on my '77 shortbed. Began removing and replacing the cab corners and one rocker. Still a long way to go but progress is progress.
It started out several years ago as my grandfathers longbed truck. After he past away it sat for 3yrs before I got hold of it. It is now lowered about 4/5 with some old wheels I've had for a while. Over the years I have replaced the doors, hood fender and the bed after cutting the frame and turning it into a shortbed. After sitting for a while I am back at it again. I've installed a shaved door kit and filled all the holes on the doors as well as the side markers on the front fenders and the stack pockets on the bed. Was going to put a roll pan like one I saw that was built by Hill's Hot Rods which had l.e.d. tailights but after getting a price of nearly $700 for the set up decided to go with a standard roll pan and keep the stock tailights (for now). The motor is a full roller with aluminum heads and a 650 double pumper as well as a variety of other perfomance parts. Still need to figure out the interior but as for the exterior planning on a two tone silver and black or blue. Saw on this board that was burgandy and silver which looked good as well. All of the work has been done by myself with help from friends. Took some paint and body classes and know somw body guys who have given me several pointers a long the way. I am hoping that when completed it will turn out as envisioned and I can say I did it all myself (with the usual help). Did you say what happened this weekend? |

i ignored the truck as usual. been working on the stang. put some 17" bullits on it. put a system in and working on other odds and ends. waiting until i move into the new hose with a nice garage next week to really tare into it.
the most exciting thing was what i got on our weekly trip to the brazos. we've been gar fishing all summer on the brazos river. biggest gar we've got so far was only 4 ft. there are some massive aligator gar in there but they are extremely hard to catch. my budding pulled out a 7 ft, 220 lb gator gar a couple months ago, had to shoot it 4 times in the head in order to get it in. well we didn't have much luck with the gar this weekend but i landed the biggest cat i've ever gotten. been fishing for catfish for years and this is my trophy so far. 40 lb blue cat caught on rod and real. i'm pretty stoked about this one

I made some rather significant progress this week I got my core support reinstalled, the engine is entire hooked up and ready to go less the air ducting (need some 3 inch tubing to finish it) and fluids (needs new ATF, got some water in the cooler line ports, so I gotta pull the pan, put a drain plug in, and re-install it, put power steering fluid in, and put my engine oil in. Electrically speaking, I just need to figure out my VSS pinout and buy a new front and rear harness for the lights. I also got most of my interior reinstalled. I gotta prime my roof before I can put my headliner back up (don't wanna get primer all over my clearance light wires, so I am keeping them inside for now) also need to buy a new carpet for the truck as well. It felt extremely good to sit behind the steering wheel again Its a bit of a climb up there now, lol! I haven't decided if I wanna keep the 88+ wheel, or put the factory one back in yet. So, to finish the truck off, I need to shoot epoxy on the whole thing, do some minor body work, then another coat of epoxy, install my divorced 205 stuff (this will be the big holdup, cannot afford to have all the driveshafts made yet) and get new front fenders (inner and outer) along with a new skirt on the core support that goes behind the bumper. Now, for the pics! TPI looks like it belongs there eh?

lets see. i left for niafara falls from ky at 4am friday morning, got to the falls at 2pm. me and my old lady did the routine there, rode the maid of mist and all that. we left at out 6pm. a friend was with us that had bought something from ebay and the guy lived 2 hours further into new york. got there at 8pm. we decided to tough it out and not stop for the night. so we turned around and headed for home. drove till about 11pm and stopped at a rest stop and snoozed for an hour and then hit the road again. got home at 6:30am saturday morning. so in all i was gone for 26 hours 30 minutes. and drivine for 21 of those hours.....
it was crazy tiring but i loved it. |

Put a new a/c vent in the pass side dash on Saturday. Would have done more but a big thunderstorm came up. Spend Sunday cleaning out the flooded garage and sawing up all the uprooted trees. Whole neighborhood in shambles.

friday evening i layed around the house saturday a pulled a bumper for 86swb unloaded some stock junker wheels for moving perposes pulled the tool box out of the short bed to later that afternoon install in the long bed got some more little extras off the parts truck of mine i am really getting the itch to work on my truck any way saturday evening wife and i cleaned the house sunday i spent all day literally cleaning up the garage moved all the frame stuff over and organized it it is all ready to be cleaned painted and reinstalled i cant wait

Sunday afternoon I broke down and washed and waxed the '87. The paint actually has a shine to it now. It started raining when I was do, so no pics. I am looking for a windshield button so I can put my rearview back on. It is seriously irritating to not have it. Plus the good old tilt column is showing signs of "I need a rebuild", so that is on the list too..

Hey Russell, you need better lighting in your garage. (looks dark in there) Engine looks good. Did not do too much. Pulled old gages out of truck and about to put new in. Need to pick up some new vents before I reinstall.
