Check out my buddy's truck.

He combined a 3/4 ton crew cab with a 1/2 ton shortbed.

Initially, he built it as a 4x4, but he got tired of that, so he re-cut the truck and built it as a 2wd.

I think it's about the baddest truck ever built.

Re: Check out my buddy's truck.

That turned out really nice TX. I was thinking when I saw the pics that you had a buddy with a 4wd short crew too. After reading the post I realize it's the same truck. I liked it before, but I "really" like it now....

Here is was before....

And, FYI, there has been a 4 door cab and doors spotted at the Texas Firefighter secret car building compound. I'll be doing this myself soon. I just need to collect a few more things before I start on mine.

Re: Check out my buddy's truck.

That truck is sweet. Your buddy must have thousands of wrenching hours into it. I agree, 2wd look better for some odd reason, and probably makes more sense for living in the far outskirts of the DFW area.

Re: Check out my buddy's truck.

That is a bad truck.
He did a good job on the truck.
The color looks cool in the shade.
Got any info on the stance, wheels, driveline, ... ?

Re: Check out my buddy's truck.

Sure...

Wheels are 17x8 all around. Front tires are 255/50/17. Rear tires are 275/60/17

Suspension is BellTech 3 inch dropped spindle and 2 inch drop coil in the front.
In the rear, he runs a BellTech 6 inch flip kit with an extra 1 inch drop shackle. This still only effects a 6 inch drop though. He has 4x4 rear spring hangars, which are longer than normal 2wd ones. That required the dropped shackle to get the full 6 inch rear drop.

Engine wise, it's got a medium hot 350. Cam, intake, etc. Trans is a 700R4. Rearend is 3.73.

The beauty of this truck is that it's technically a 3/4 ton according to the VIN and title. It passes inspection without worrying about catylitic converters or anything like that. Here in Texas, heavy GVW trucks didn't get the full load of smog equipment that 1/2 tonners did. So, he gets a free rein on engine mods.
