Got the drop finished
I put on 73-87 3" Drop spindles, cut a wrap off of the spring, new ball joints and tie rod ends. The rear springs came with the truck when I bought it, not sure on how much drop they are supposed to be, but it looks like about 6".
It sits pretty nice and rides decent for a lowered truck. I am having a problem with the stock rallys rubbing on the lower control arm. I trimmed a little off of it and it works, but rubs when you turn it very far. Does anyone know if a 7" rally will work any better? I know it has 1/2" less backspacing so it should help. |

Re: Got the drop finished
Yep,... 7 inch rallys will help. I usually trim both sides of the lower control arms anyway. Are you going to notch the rear? I don't have much clearance with mine. Keep us posted! Looks sweet.

Re: Got the drop finished
Lolife: yes I am going to notch it, but not until I bag it. I wanna get it all one color(even if its primer), and get some wheels on it first. Thanks for the info on the 7" rallys.

Re: Got the drop finished
Is that a 63 Impala in the background?
Chrome bumpers? New front clip? Did you swap a-arms or did you keep the originals? Last edited by n2billet; 12-29-2005 at 11:22 PM. |

Re: Got the drop finished
Yes that is a 63 Impala in the background, no its not for sale. Actually it belongs to a customer. It will get a full rodstoration as soon as we finish the interior in his 57 BelAir.
I kept the stock A-arms, As far as plans for it. I scored a nice 67 front clip that I will be putting on before long. new chrome bumpers, new trim, etc. i am debating on putting 67/68 side trim on it. Hopefully some 20" Billet Specialties Vintec Soft Lips if the wallet allows. |

Re: Got the drop finished
Yeah your going to have to trim the A-arms if you keep those rallies on there. It's not a problem with 2.5" spindles, but always happens with 3".
The 7's will help but it still might scrape some on full lock turns....

Re: Got the drop finished
The spindles are TrailMaster brand. I dont know how long they made drop spindles, but I know they dont anymore. I bought these off eBay. I figured for the price I would give em a shot.

Re: Got the drop finished
I kind of like the multi colored rigs. When they are all primer I think of thrashers. The multi-colored ones give me the impression of current upgrades and hard work going on. Not sure why this is but none the less. Maybe add 1 more color for "the look". Anyone remember the circus wagon?
