New floors thread..

I am finally starting my new floor installation and am doing this major surgery as a 1st timer hope to have all this finished up by monday but we'll see how bad the rust is underneath the floors... BTW this is the first truck I have ever seen with bondo on the floors the p.o. was a dumb azz.. Here the pics from today didnt get much done as I ran out of cut-off wheels(note to self look before you start)

Re: New floors thread..

Looks like I gonna need to fab up a front cab brace also.. The rocker boxes are in great shape and only have a hole in the rear flat section about the size of a half dollar so far s o good..

Re: New floors thread..

That should keep you busy for a while. Sure will be way better when you're done! Question is, what kind of shape are the front cab supports in? Please keep us posted with the progress!

The 'Z' shaped support under the floor is factory... as is the rod that's welded in diagonally in the torsion box.

Re: New floors thread..

It sure is fun to see what the PO has done for repairs before you. The Crew cab I am doing was filled with fiberglass where ever the PO found rust. I would rather deal with bondo, little heat for a tortch and it pops right out! Are you getting into your rockers at the same time or just the floors?

Re: New floors thread..

which patch panel do you need to get to get the lip that runs along the bottom of the door? is it the rocker? or the floor pan?

EDIT: the lip that the seal goes on.

Re: New floors thread..

Heres the only rust in the rocker box, very easy fix.. Is this plate needed to be welded to the floor comming off the bedfloor??? Anyone have good pics of how this should attach?? It is solid amazingly. Should the lip on the patch pannel go underneath the rocker pannel or stick up like it does here?? The lip I am talking about is the one my finger is on??

Re: New floors thread..

That's exactly what I'm going to have to do to mine. Thanks so much for the pics, it gives me a better idea of what I'm going to have to do. The front cab supports look really accessible from the top. That's good to know because I was considering taking the tub off to get to all of that. What did you use to cut the floors out?

that's pretty much my question too. i've read that with the blazer replacement floor pans, you don't need the inner rockers. which part on that replacement floor pan would be considered the inner rocker? i already bought some inner rockers like the ones frenchblue has posted, can i still use them or are they just scrap at this point?
