Another 700r4 question. Speedo gear part #'s
I looked on www.bowtieoverdrives.com and used the speedo gear calcualtor to determine what gear set I need. It shows I need a 17 tooth (Maroon) drive gear, and a 36 tooth (White) driven gear to get my speedo corrected.
I know they are reasonable priced, but I need to buy the gears locally. Has anyone had any luck getting them through your local GM parts department? Where can I look up the GM part numbers? Anyone... 17 tooth (Maroon) drive gear- 36 tooth (White) driven gear-

The GM parts department in my town had all of the numbers and data right at the parts counter. I get my gears through a friend at a tranny shop. He has all of the gears in stock.

I too have the speedo gear blues. (2.73 to 3.73 rear swap)
Basically; anyone know where I can get a plastic gear housing for the 40+ gear? I just can't see spending that much for an aluminum housing. Everywhere I have looked is out of stock. |

You need to make shure you get the correct carrier for the driven gear or else the gears will not mesh properlly and tare them selfs up. Ask me how I know... Try a junk yard for the correct carrier, it has it stamped on it, as to what gears it should have. You can order the gears threw any GM dealer.

I know I'm the same way. I have to refer to it from time to time to make sure it's not on there. Seems like I'm always finding new stuff on there woth great info.
