help with 87 silverado.....
i just got a 87 silverado, 350 efi, not sure on trans, but it has lots of options. ok, it has sat for about 2 years (due to a locked up rear end), so if i prime it through the carb, it will run til the fuel is gone. what should i look at to trouble shoot getting fuel to the carb? it has stock dual tanks (switch in cab to go from lh to rh tanks). can i bypass the switching valve mounted on the frame rail and just run only one tank? also are there any other relays, switches or fuses i need to look at? also where are the fuel pumps and fuel filters? thanks.

I know the switch defaults to one side or the other. It varies by years. My 80 is passenger side default. Just make sure you have a few gallons in each tank. That way you're covered regardless of what side is the default. You're lucky I didn't beat ya to that one. I just got a 73 Blazer and a free 79 K20 in the past week! - Dave

Re: help with 87 silverado.....
Are the injectors pulsing ? Take the air cleaner off and cycle the key . If you cant hear them pulsing (clicking ) they are stuck . If that is part or all of the problem , you might try tapping on the injectors to free them up . Then check to see if they are spraying gas . I bought one that was sitting . The owner told me a shop had checked it out and the timing had jumped and some other things . All I had to do to get it going was what I mentioned above . After finding the problem , I went ahead and dissassembled the throttle body , cleaned , and reassembled it with a new gasket kit . Ran fine . Frank

Re: help with 87 silverado.....
hey guys, thanks. i'll check the injectors at the carb, then since i will only be using one tank, can i bypass the switching valve that is mounted on the frame rail? is there an easy way to check the fuel pump from the tanks?
thanks.
