Narrowing front end on 78GMC dually to go under 52GMC Bus? FEEDBACK PLEASE!
Is there some kind of kit out there to narrow the track on my 78 GMC Dually to make it fit correctly under my 52 GMC 19 foot bus? I want to part out the pickup and start working on the swap this winter.
I also want to do airbags so I can "lay frame". Should I do all the trick suspension stuff before I pull the pickup body?, after I pull the body and before it goes under the bus? , or after I have it installed under the bus? |

what is the track width of the bus? should be at least 77" like the dually d60.
i would say go with the dually front and jamb a dually d70 or 14b in the rear, k.i.s.s. you can always swap to single wheel setup and that will suck it in 10" to 67" which is what you would see on any regular non dually truck. |

I'm having a difficult time measuring right now because of all the hornets nests! Anyway, here are the measurements, outside of tire to outside, stock tires on both the bus and the 78: 78 GMC, front--72 inches, back--92 inches. 52 GMC Bus, front 66--inches, back--86 inches. The back will fit fine, there is plenty of room, and I want to keep the dually wheels in back.
I've heard about some kind of "kit" to narrow the track in front (that includes shorter control arms) but doesn't change geometry. John |

i miss read it at first and was think 4x4 stuff, either way you you cant go with the single wheel setup from say a 2wd 3/4t it would still be to wide.
you couldnt blow the fenders out and stance it and keep the dually front stuff? |

Do a search for my user name, bbeep, it will bring up pics! I plan to make it "lay frame" with bags. Ultimate goal--as my son, Josh's, bands tour bus! callingsimon.com John |
