c-notch
Are the bolt in c notches any good? I put the rear flip kit from djm on my 05 silverado and need to notch the frame. I figured this is the best place to find out. Thanks

I bought the bolt in kit, but I will weld it in place. I like the extra coverage the bolt in version gives you, but I don't trust that it won't develop play and cause a weak point later on.

We put a bolt in notch in my buddy's '98 extended cab after we did a 5/7 and he never had any issues.

i agree with jimmydean i'd bolt it AND weld it if it was on my truck just for the extra security

I have done bolt in's with out a problem but I do like to add a few welds on them if possible. If you do not weld then bolt it in and drive to a muffler shop and have them put down a few welds for you. They should not charge much and if you show up around quitting time with a 12pac they may not charge at all!

I thought I recalled a pic from Kevin with a welded "bolt-in" notch. I could be wrong, but I got the idea from somewhere.

It would be stronger than the original frame section using this method.
That's what I did on my 68. I bolted it in while using it as a driver & then welded it like this once I began using it to pull my 18ft car hauler. I will admit, my welds don't look as good as these since I did it outside & the wind was killing me that day.
