Quick question.......
I was just wondering, can you put Lakewood traction bars on a 3/4 ton pick-up? Sounds like a dumb idea, but it just popped in to my head so I thought I'd ask.

Re: Quick question.......
the low buck slapper pars that I suspect you are refering to, (the ones for like 40 bucks or so that go on with U-bolts) they won't work, thy require that the axle be over the leaf, instead of under it.

Re: Quick question.......
Make your own ladders,Jake. In the`80s I had these bars for 4wds called "Bushwackers".They were a 1" rod with an eye/bushing at the front and an l-bracket at the rear. The bracket bolted to the top of the u-bolts.You bolted a bracket to the front spring mount that the front of the rod bolted to.It sat over the spring.I had those on my green`71 Blazer that had a locker/4" blocks/37"Swampers and it eliminated spring wrap. They woulf be simple to make.

Re: Quick question.......
Yeah, they sound easy enough to make. But, I don't really need them on my truck. I don't think it would OR could spin enough to need them.

Re: Quick question.......
It couldn`t burn rubber if you dumped gas on the tires and threw a match at it,eh?

Re: Quick question.......
She don't like to, not with the Posi and V6. Maybe when I put a SBC in she'll light 'em up. It's a teenager desease, spinning tires is.

Re: Quick question.......
Actually, some grow "into" it.The older you get,the more smoke you can make. When I was younger,it thrilled me to actually lay a patch on the pavement. Then,it was how long, next making two at a time, now it`s sitting still in a cloud that sounds like a revving motor.

Re: Quick question.......
I took the old girl out in the tar today, and tried to spin her. One of my buddies was up there in a Toyota, and he put me to shame. That friggin thing would spin, a lot. The GMC on the other hand, might have laid 2 10foot marks. The Posi was jumping and the 305 was cranking in 2nd, but she just couldn't put out any competition. She'd rip with something that would rev higher though, and some traction bars. I could feel it.

Re: Quick question.......
Ah man, you`re doing the wrong thing. You need to hook that Jimmy to the Yokyto and pull it backwards with his wheels spinnin`forwards.Drag him into a ditch.

Re: Quick question.......
Got a cheap set of slapper bars on the longhorn(axle flip/drop). They work pretty good with a posi......but I am running a peg leg 3.40 rear. You dont stand on that 1 ,till its moving ......& its still lit for the first 4 gears Look in summit or jegs, I have seen a listing for truck slapper bars , to fit the stockers(73-up)..... L

I wonder if those 73-up ladders bars in summit would fit my 68. I've seen them listed in there, too. I suppose if I really wanted some, I could try and make them......... |
