Theintimidator3 you have a nice truck but why all the hold down pins on the hood? Is your engine trying to get out?

I actually needed to on the outter edges as they were like wings and would raise up.. I have a 2" crack down the front middle of my hood now..

wouldnt happen if you quit doing high speed runs in your truck

The older factory hood skins were glued together underneath, where the cross braces are. The glue dries out and then the hood starts to flex like a wing. A neat trick is to go to an Auto Parts store and purchase a tube of Urethane windshield sealer and shoot the goo in between the ribs (cross braces) and the hood skin. Give it 24 hours and then drive the truck without flex or fear.

wow i never thought of that. sounds like a good tip now i got to remove the insulation with out damge....... any tips for that ?

yeah, just remove that stuff and pitch it....if you reallt want undermating go with dyno mat or somthing like that.....the factory stuff sucks

The factory stuff dries out after a few years and then it bcomes a little touchy to remove. Get a pair of side cutters and just cut the plastic hoding clips. LMC or most auto supply places (Like NAPA) have new ones for a cheap price. LMC also sells new insulation pieces. The Dynamat is great for sound and heat reflection, but if you don't like the shiney insulation look then you need to go another route. A lot of factory hoods are not painted well underneath and taking the insulation off completely can reval an ugly area. If you do this, then take care on the application of the windshield sealer and not spread it all over. I would run masking tape along where I planned to inject the goop and then pull the tape after application, giving a clean edge for appearance---be sure to get the stuff between the cross pieces and the skin.
