fuel gauge ?
Hey all
got a 87 silverado 4x4 350 tbi noticed coming home this evening left tank about a 1/8 so I switched over, and my full right tank reads 1/4 full ,so I stop and fill my left tank and switch back and forth and gauge reads 1/4 on both tanks and they are full, and when I cut my truck off then cut the key back on it does not move like it is stuck at a 1/4, any ideals I checked my fuse panel and no blown fuses |

I had an 85 work truck that the gas gauge didn't work right half the time. Heard that it was a common problem. Someone told me that it is just something dirty on the back of the gauge, but I never bothered with checking it out. Maybe someone else knows more specifics.

Check the main wires that go to the gas tank cause that happend to me.If not change the fuel gauge I was lucky to find one at my house in the main garage.

There should be a ground wire bolted directly to the fram for your sending unit in the tank, and I would check that. If that is not getting a good connection for whatever the reason, that could do it.
