Keep the clears or ditch them?
Just wanted som input from you guys on my rear clear tail lights. IT does not seem like that much work to make led tail lights work in them (thanks for the input on the 1157 thread) but i wanted to get some ideas on if i should just ditch them or if i do keep them i was thinking of adding clear front fender markers as well. What do you think ditch or keep and add the clear fender markers.
Thanks alot for the input

It is a very nice looking truck, I prefer it better without the clear..

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
I would either go back stock or with the newer style carbon fiber lights.

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
I could go either way on the lights...if you keep em then get the fronts also. I would either put the bumper back on or turn down the exhaust infront of the rear axle though. The ride height is your call.

First of all, Very Nice Truck. Now as for opinion on the lights: go back to stock and lower the truck. Good Job.

I say lose the clears. I do not like those things at all. I'm not a fan of Euro tails, really.

Those aren't my style either, but they won't look bad if/when he puts another bumper on it....

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
wow thanks for the info guys and als. The ride hight is stock on this truck no blocks or bigger leafs in the rear. the only suspention mod i can find is that the rear has coil over shocks. unless it has some type of shorter front springs or drop spindles it is stock. it did sit lower in the front then my 84 but i thought that was maybe do to the motor but it is not a big block or anything. also the front end is really tight and even so i thnk that the coils were not cut. i guess they could be. Also the bumper is off because it was rusting on the inside so i removed it grinded it down and am painting it with rust paint then spraying rubberized undercoating on it as it is a commen spot for rust. Thanks for all the help on this one. i might consider a drop but not much and if i do it then i would prob do spinles in the front and not sure how to do the back. agian thanks for the input

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
NOt a fan of the all clear ones. Looks to me like a broken taillight. The ones with red inserts aint bad though IMO. I'd say stockish. Instead of led's.

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
Also in regards to the exhaust and bumper. with the bumper back on they stick out maybe a 1/2 inch at the top and are flush at the bottem. i think that with the bumper back on it will make the back end look alittle bit lower. not that the bumper weighs enough to make a diffrance but it seems to tie the back end in better. i also considered a rool pan but frowned awy for two reasons. 1 is that the bumper is nice insurance in a parking lot and protecs the gate and rear bed sides. socondly i woul have to shorten the tips and i would loose my ablity to tow as the pipes are too close for me to add a frame mounted hich i have. Thanks for the input angain. also another con to a roll pan is that if or when i want to go back to stock i can't since it will eather leave holse or be welded in. Any bthoughts on a sport bumper and getting the pipes spaced alittle to fit my frame mounted reciver hitch

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
You put the bumper back on and the tips will look just fine. I think the coil over shocks are holding the rear up some because it looks really tall in the back.
If you did want to lower it, a set of shackles in the rear would be the best route...

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
thanks N2 i will look into it alittle more on this form. i know you have a bag setup on that sweet 77 of yours. I don't want to lay it out or anything cause it still gets worked from time to time. any makes for the shackles you would suggest? and are you talking about just leveling it out?
Thanks

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
Yeah rear shackles would lower it some in the rear and let it set level. You can get them through Summit Racing, or check your local Auto Parts store.

Re: Keep the clears or ditch them?
Keep the clears and hang a shiney chrome bumper outback and reroute the tailpipes just behind the rear wheels at an angle towards the bed corners. With your single/dual exhaust I'm not sure how it would sound dumped at the axle. You could probably go back to stock shocks to lower it back to stock hight. It is up there a bit, but it does see duty so its your decision. Heres a example of a clean LWB. I call it inspiration.
