What did you get done? 12/17

I spent Friday and half of Saturday finishing up my Christmas shopping with my Daughter. We got all our presents bought and wrapped so we can stay on the good side of Momma now.

After my shopping spree I stopped at the local tire shop and picked up a set of tires rear for my Camaro. I was able to get it back on the ground so I could roll it out and clean up the oil slick that had formed under it.

Apparently an oil pan will hold quit a bit of oil even after you let it drain for 20-30 minutes. I put the drain plug back in but forgot to tighten it. After spending an hour cleaning this mess up, I put it back in the air. Now I have to decide what's the best way to get all of the old gas out before I put fresh fuel and oil to try to start it.

Re: What did you get done? 12/17

ouch...
I did not do much, aside from the great Florida weather, i put on shorts and flip flops and washed all 4 vehicles. Then rolled my c10 back in the garage. Have a nagging speedo cable noise, took it off from behind the dash, squirted some graphite down in there...not sure if it helped, ill find out maybe next week if I take it out.
Found out my 6.0 lq9 deal fell through, guy decided he wanted to put it in his malibu..

Well I worked on my Camaro also today. Did some wiring work, hopefully I can get this thing running real soon. I need to send it off to the paint shop soon so iI can bring my 86 Sierra project in the garge. I wish I had a pole barn!

Re: What did you get done? 12/17

Didn't get a whole lot done this weekend, did some drawing on my boxside for moving the fuel door to the rear, but I didn't bust out the grinder with the zip wheel yet, I'll cut it open on Tuesday once I've finished school, if I haven't been drug off to go work at the apartment :P

Hopefully by the end of next week, it'll be totally street legal. I'm planning on putting my interior back together, and tightening everything down one last time. I've asked for a gasket kit and bought a bolt kit for the TPI intake, so I plan to do my head swap next week, then I'll take it on it's maiden voyage to the gas station to put some gas in it, and then do some driving around the subdivision to get some tuning done... It won't technically be legal to drive until I get it registered and insured sometime next spring, but that won't stop me from having some fun in my subdivision, lol

Re: What did you get done? 12/17

Dude that is one nice truck you got there!

Truckwise, had the throttle hang wide open, had an issue with the linkages, resolved that. Also diagnosed bad plug wires AGAIN... shorting out on the block... so hopefully Tuesday morning I can make it by the Zone, get a set, then get my money back. Gotta love warantees. Sick of this POS but that's another story

Nontruck stuff... worked Saturday afternoon and evening, watched my poor Saints blow it vs. the Redskins.

Re: What did you get done? 12/17

Worked late Friday night again (think Ground-hog Day w/B. Murray). Usually that's no big deal..... but, I worked from 7am ~12am on Thurs, & 6am ~ 12am Fri so I was worn...... I slept in on Sat morning!

I had to do the normal everyday stuff & got some X-mas shopping done so the rest of Sat was a waste (did watch the Cowboys game ).

Today I finished up the routing for the air-lines to my front bags. I still don't get WTF ART is thinking when they cut the upper plates for these trucks. 90° fittings are too shallow & want to rub everything & the straight fitting has a lousy angle that would kink the air-line. My next set will be home made.

Anyhoo, the lines are secured in place & ready to finish the routing to the controls which will prob be sometime after New Years since this week is X-mas stuff & my GF's birthday is right after.

Hhmmm . . ..... She did ask what else I wanted for x-mas. Maybe I could get 1 or 2 of those AR Salt-Flats I've been considering?

Re: What did you get done? 12/17

Spent Sat installing new oak window trim around our new windows, did some shopping, went to dinner with the wife, and relaxed.

Sunday helped a friend dismantle his '49 Power Wagon, then spent some time working on Yeller...finishing all the loose ends on the rear of the frame in preperation for the bed to come home from the body shop.

I pick up the bed tonight and it will go directly back on the frame...my truck will begin to look more like a truck!

Thumbs up Re: What did you get done? 12/17

Not 73-87 related but it's what i did!

My buddy Jimmy and i installed the eng.& trans in his '66 pro street El Camino chassis

The Eng. is a World 454 block not shure what the final cubic in's. is but it was built by Pat Mussi and it has a set of Grumpy Jenkins heads on it.

It should produce around 700HP

The tranny is a Jeffco it's the street version of a Linco

The truck will be the same color as the Eng.

I pushed BADBOW into the garage. I have to pull the water pump to get to the timing chain. She'll have to wait till next week though.

Re: What did you get done? 12/17

I delivered the wagon to its new owner on thursday, but I consider that part of me "weekend"

Did some more buffing on a customers golf cart, they took it now to do the lift kit, but it'll be back for some more buffing and polishing after the new year.

I also drug the talon in to start diagnosing some oil leaks and did a compression test. I'm just trying to get it "daily" driver ready.

Sunday morning my brother and I rolled my dad's GTO into the garage and tossed it up on the lift. It rolled out about 3 hours later with a Flowmaster catback, sounds much nicer now. Early present for him...

Only thing truck related is that I may have the 406 sold. This will allow me the room to work on some other things and the start of the funding for the new, more boost-worthy 406.
