350turbo in place of a 700r-4-4x4

Hey guys i just picked up a 87' 4x4 blazer w/a 350 tbi and a 700r-4/208.My question is can i swap a 2wd turbo 350 tranny in t it.The 700 is burn and i have a rebuilt turbo 350.I have the 2''(i'm guesing here as i dont have infront of me)aluminium spacer that i'm told came with some auto's.I will get the 700 rebuilt later on down the road.I would just like to get this blazer motive again. Thanks for any help.

If you are trying to put a 2wd tranny into a 4x4 truck it wont work the tourbo 350 automatic tranny is to long to have that transfercase for the 4x4 behind it. The 4x4 trannys are shorter then the 2wd.

Re: 350turbo in place of a 700r-4-4x4

You can remove the tailshaft housing but it still won't work. I'm pretty sure that the 350 cases are the same. The problem is that the 4x4 main shaft is shorter so you would have to put all the guts from a 4x4 tranny into the 4x2 case.

Basically you have to have the tranny rebuilt.

Re: 350turbo in place of a 700r-4-4x4

Thanks AKRAcing
I know the main shafts are differnt lenghts..the 4x4 stops at the end of the case and the 2wd splines are of course out past the case when the tail stock is removed,I just thought with the space i have(that is some kind of gm unit)i could get by with it.I know the drive shaft length my also be problem. So i guess i'll have to wait and rebuilt the 700 thanks for all the help
