Replacement Gas Tank from LMC question

I just ordered a replacement gas tank Kit from LMC (part# 32-5926). In the newest catalog there is a note for Blazer application that states: Fuel neck modification required on 1969-72 Blazers involving the transfer of the original fuel neck extension to the replacement tank. I was hoping someone might know what that actual modification is. I tried calling LMC and they replied with: "other people have asked the same question but they have no info on the modification". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The repop tank is a happy medium between the Sub and Blazer tanks. The repop's neck isn't as long nor is it in the correct clock position. Take your old tank and the new one to radiator shop and they'll do the swap for $20-50.

I got the same tank I just used a longer hose with a spring rapped in the inside of the rubber so it wouldn't collapse its a Marine hose worked fine. Its a little tight getting it in but it worked

The blazer tank has a curve in the filler neck and is longer than the shorter straight neck on the replacement tank, most generally use the longer reinforced hose method others swap necks.

Was price the reason you didn't get it from a Board Vendor? Just curious?

LMC was the only place I knew of that had a gas tank avaliable. I even tried an internet search which didn't turn up much.

I appreciate everyone's help and does not sound like too big a deal. The thing that gets me torqued is that I ordered from an earlier (not their latest) LMC catalog and in the catalog that I have and thus the reason for ordering it says " direct OE replacement tank". Had I know before hand it needed to me modified I might have looked harder for a tank somewhere else. Price was not the factor I was looking for something that would be a direct replacemant without much modification.

BTW: I will think twice and look for other places before ordering from them again.

No biggie, I just know that the vendor here I use usually kills their prices,
but the real reason that I use him is his service and knowledge support

The board vendors are great but LMC has a great catalog. I found that everyone sells the same tanks, with the short filler neck. Doesn't matter where you buy from they either have to be modified or the reinforced hose needs to be used.

I agree 100%, the LMC catalog is top notch for Pic reference, and that is
one item that it doesn't really matter where it comes from because I bet
they're all from the same factory I hate their service, or lack there of

I agree with you 100% on that!

It's kind of hard to find out what the other vendors here actually have for sale and is the plus side to the catalog. The customer service attitude when calling LMC was the "don't ask me I just work here!"

I have a big wish list for things I would like for by Blazer, I am going to have to do some homework and see what the other vendors have.

So possibly a marine store for the reinforced filler hose?

Just curios... the tank on my Blazer was replaced with a plastic tank by the previous owner. I'm under the impression plastic tanks were not original, right? Are replacement tanks available in metal and plastic? Or was this tank used from another application? The filler neck hose that the PO used is kinked and needs to be shortened to remove the kink, I think. I suppose filler necks are a bit of an issue and are not just a direct replacement on Blazers and Jimmys.

You can get the replacement tank in Metal or Plastic, both are correct for
the application, both will need to have modified hoses, spring inside types
are better since they do not kink, OEM ones on all Blazers were Metal.

Spring inside? Is there a metal spring inside that may be prone to rust, or is it molded into the rubber hose itself? Where do I get one?
