Cab swap questions

I've searched in vain and can't find a clear answer to these questions...

Will an 82 2x4 1/2 ton cab mount to an 85 4x4 3/4 ton cab without any issues other than the different transmission hump (which I would be changing to accommodate the 4x4)?

Is the cab mounting hardware different between 82 and 85? I've seen on LMC truck that the mounting hardware they sell comes in different sets for 81-83 and 84-87.

I need a rust free cab in the worst way and the 82 I've found will work as long as it will mount without having to do a lot of modifications.

Re: Cab swap questions

the trans hump is the only problem you will have. and you will probally need to use the 82 cab mounts.

Re: Cab swap questions

HELLO,,been thru this (putting a 2 wd cab on a 4x4)yes the tranny hump is the only problem,BUT do not do like i did thinking all u have to do is change the hump,,not true,if you look back under the seat that hump run's all the way back under seat and is different clear back.(least mine was)you have to change the hump PLUS cut out that piece under seat and use the one from old 4x4 to clear the t-case..i posted some stuff about mine along time ago,i'll see if i can find it..if not if you want to go thru my post's it's in there somewhere.good luckhere is link to pic's.
