24V to 12v change over
After looking at how hacked up the dash wiring is in my 85 M1028a1 (Military K30) and needing batteries any way . . . How involved would converting the 24volt system to 12 volt? Anyone here done this? Engine harness change and dash wiring change plus starter. Anything else? Found a complete GMC 6.2 one ton auto 3500 in a yard , should have everything for a swap. Note, this K30 has 2 100 amp alternators, I suppose they would have to go to also. thanks in advance

Re: 24V to 12v change over
You might take a look at www.steelsoldiers.com You can find great info on a wide variety of Military vehicles.
I would like to have a CUCV, of a 5ton wrecker (M816) or a 5ton with box van on the back and make a camper out of it..

Re: 24V to 12v change over
Found this out: Wiring harness is 12 V, alts are both 12V, all dash and vehicle lights are 12v. only starter is 24V. Looks like rewiring of batteries and removing/rewiring of one alternator and changing to 12V starter should do the trick.
