Headers- w/ a.i.r.??????

How many of you are running headers w/ a.i.r. emission equipment? I have an 86 that I've been wanting to put headers on but az emission laws i have to install them w/ a.i.r. system.
For those who do have this type can you get a pic of the system and are you running a "y" pipe or dual exhaust w/ dual cats.

Re: Headers- w/ a.i.r.??????

My 84 has headers of unknown brand. These headers have the bung for the AIR pump input. And yes I am running it, and it does pass Oregon emissions easily. There are headers available with these provisions.

The header system I have I recall is going into a two input 2 1/2 Inch single Catalytic converter (Joined at the input). And has a single 3 inch output to a single 3inch in/out Flowmaster Muffler. Which exits single 3 inch at the stock location. Its sounds really good. Though I know a true dual would be better. The former owner had this built this way, as some exhaust shops you encounter in Oregon want to keep things pretty much as they were put together at the factory. He said they refused to modify it to true duals. (Dumb) In this case I am just guessing they employed a 2 ton type truck Cat converter for the large in and outs or something more late model for a 1 ton truck for the large pipe sizes. But everyone who hears it run loves the way it sounds!

So to answer your question. Yes its possible to run headers and leave it smog legal with a Cat or Cat's.

What air cleaner are you running, my 86 has a ton of vaccum lines that are inspected every year.

I think Swervin was running some made by Edelbrock until recently. I think he ran them both as duals and with a Y pipe. You might PM him and see if he still has them.
