12 bolt posi ID

I purchased a 6 lug rearend supposedly out of 65-66 chevy truck. the ring gear is a 12 bolt,3.73 ratio. I'm having ahard time determining what type posi unit it is.Casting numbers on the housing are 3856525

what makes you think it is a posi.. If you open the inspection plate you will be able to see if it is a posi or not.. But then again if you already did that then you know...

Can you tell what type of rear end just by looking at it ? Don't the covers vary? If so does anyone know what to look for?

Put the unit on jack stands or something. Turn the axle, if both sides turn the same direction its posi, if they turn opposite of eachother, its not.

somethings weird about my rear end. when i was changing the rear brakes i turned one side and the other turned the opposite direction so i know its not posi. but when the tires spin the both turn every time. weird.
