wipers and latches
what do yall think about the wiper kit from autoloc?
http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/Autol...o?itemid=wiper When I got my truck is was bare, as in just a cab, nothing in it. So I dont have any of the factory linkages or anything, I have nothing. And where I live its next to impossible to find anything. So Im thinking about going with autolocs wipers, what do yall think? Also Im going with their latches for my doors, and Im thinking about going with their hood latch since I dont have that either. Does anyone know if they or someone else makes an electric opening hood latch? I could ge tthe autoloc one, or even a stock one but I want to be able to operate it from a button, not a pull. I really dont want to mount a solinoid with a pull cable either, Im looking for something like this but for a hood... http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/Autol...o?itemid=BCLGP TIA |

Re: wipers and latches
Is that a bolt on kit for the 48-54 trucks? We are going to do an electric kit for dads truck but I really haven't started looking at stuff yet.
I just looked at it again and it is a universal kit but looks pretty easy to install. These old trucks are like our race boat....nothing fits properly you always have to do something...lol. Bernie Last edited by pgf545; 07-06-2007 at 10:46 PM. |

Re: wipers and latches
For wipers I was planning on simply using some cheapo wiper motors intended for a boat on my 53 1/2ton. They sweep about the same arc and are generally a fraction of the cost of the aftermarket kits like Newport makes.

Re: wipers and latches
check this ebay thing out...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...QQcmdZViewItem what else would I need besides the electric motor? I'd rather go the stock route with an upgraded motor over something fully custom.. |

Re: wipers and latches
The Autoloc stuff is good and the wiper kit is universal install. the locks are a custom install.
If you want to leave it almost stock and not mess with the mechanicals of the wipers, every now and then ebay has an electric original for the 55 - 59's . 47 -55 you have to use a kit. Look on webrodder.com they have a write up on installing the Autolc type wiper in a F@rd. Search on wiper and they have 3 article on it. I first would try to get an electric wiper from ebay if I could and if not then use the Autoloc. |

Re: wipers and latches
The only other thing that may be different would be the transmission arms.
