Re: flip kit with 2 piece drive shaft ???

DJM recommends changing to a 1 piece driveshaft, or modifying the bearing frame support.

Re: flip kit with 2 piece drive shaft ???

here's what i did......just like malo said.....i modified bearing bracket.driveshaft is now fairly level. no vibes or shudder up to speedo pegged he cut out stock bearing bracket welded in flat plate and bolted carrier bearing to it.not a very good pic.but, you'll get the idea.i really had some screwed up looking looking angles till we did this mod.i was gonna go to a single. but ,my exhaust guy said lets try this first.if it works its cheaper than a driveline.works excellent.

Re: flip kit with 2 piece drive shaft ???

ok Im usually wrong, but here goes:
boat ol buddy...
1. did you just move the carrier bearing to the side of where it was?
2. if so, did it interfere at all with your old exhaust setup?
3. you said he welded a plate onto it, how thick? and did he predrill it?

thx mang

your not wrong, your just learning. you know i wasn't there when he did it.what i would try if, physically able.i have a bad back and can't do the underneath stuff anymore.loosen the bearing from its mounting point to the frame and just pull the line at the rear or front and see if it will slide over enough to allow you to get up in there and cut out the stock perch.if not, you'll have to pull the line out .the plate, going off memory is 3/8's.and ,i'm not sure on the predrill.i had the exhaust guy do it on his lift with all the right stuff.welder,torch.i have had him do alot of custom exhaust stuff for me on other stuff.so,he gives me a pretty good deal.he knows i like em loud and i'll be back.i think you can visualize that raising that bearing up will fix your bad angle.check these new pics.man that flash picks up all the grease and oil under there doesn't it?

Re: flip kit with 2 piece drive shaft ???

Mines at stock ride height all around, but I switched to a 1 piece since I had one from a previous truck that had all new u-joints and was balanced. Those rivets on the carrier bearing bracket took forever to grind off. I turned a large cutting wheel down to the size of a quarter after the 4th one. Then I had to smack it hard with sledge hammer to get it out. Those are some serious rivets. I didn't even bother taking the top portion of the rivets out of the cross member because they also very tight in the holes.

Re: flip kit with 2 piece drive shaft ???

mine is bolted in lol....when I got my truck, dad and I went to the junkyard and picked up the drive shafts, carrier bearing, and the rear end already removed...then bolted her all in...I shouldve done the drop right after I got her...but yea, tax money only stretches so far lolz
