Is there an issue fitting shorty headers?
I can't remember for sure, but I think there may have been a problem with people fitting short headers. I am not sure of the brand I have. I am looking to put them on my 85 SWB 2WD.
I thought the problem might have been the crossmember or somthing? I have moved mine back maybe about 3" when I swapped my 350 trans for the 700r4. Can anyone please help clear this up? I would hate to try and install them and find out they won't work so well after I get that far into it. -Jeremy

Re: Is there an issue fitting shorty headers?
I have Edelbrock shorty headers on my truck no problems at all but they were ordered for my exact year truck and application.
'87-350-700r4. But since you don't know what brand they are it's hard to tell ya what kind of problems you could have if any at all. As far as the tranny x-member i don't think that will be an issue with the headers but maybe the y pipe or what ever you have thats goin' to connect to the headers. Re: Is there an issue fitting shorty headers?
Thanks, Stepper.
I wish I knew what brand the headers were. I picked them up at a swap meet a while back. I want to install them soon and have the exhaust with sort of quiet mufflers and exit before the wheels on each side. I have a feeling that my converter is restricting the flow a good amount considering how long I drove the truck with my quadrajet dumping huge amounts of fuel. A set of plugs fouled out in a week! Thanks -Jeremy
