Choke idle
Recently, when starting my truck up cold, the fast idle feels a little too high. Especially in park or nuetral..It takes a pretty long time to idle back down also. About how long should it take to kick all the way down to normal? Where do I go about adjusting this stuff? Its got a 305 and a quadrajet btw..Thanks

Re: Choke idle
Fast idle speed adjustment is the phillips head screw on the right (pass) side. What changed to make it idle faster?

Re: Choke idle
Thanks, Its gotten colder in the past week and now it just seems the fast idle is even higher than it was before..It only does it when its below 60 degrees, anything warmer and it stays at the normal fast idle.

Re: Choke idle
Ohh, I don't care for electric chokes. It sounds like yours needs to be tweaked some though. Make sure the linkage and all to the intake are still connected. It may just be a matter of loosening the cap screws and turning the cap a tad one way or the other. Manual chokes rule.

If you're interested in learning more about the Q-Jet, other than asking in the Engines & Drivetrain forum, check out Doug Roe's Q-Jet bible, Rochester Carburetors. You'll get all the info you'll ever need. I bought mine used on Amazon. Maybe $12 shipped.
