Re: disc brake rear end....

Well, you can always find some rotors that will fit over your axles...then use weld on caliper mounts.

That wouldn't be too bad.

I've looked into this too, and the most expensive part is the calipers. I think they were from a 76-79 Caddy, and around $250.

Re: disc brake rear end....

I have seen one truck locally that had a complete swap from a '99 and up GM truck.........6-lug baby! Its a bit wider than the old stuff so backspacing becomes an issue.......also the lug threads are metric. It sure looked nice, however.

Re: disc brake rear end....

When I get to that point I was going to try 4wd rotors with the weld on mounts.

Re: disc brake rear end....

My buddy gave me a complete kit from his 98 z71. It came from one of the popular disc conversion companies, I forget the name.I have an 89 blazer 4x4 axle under my 61 4x4. I'm hopeing it will just bolt up. I agree with the above mentioned weld on some caliper mounts.

Re: disc brake rear end....

I got my kit from CCP. It was only a couple hundred dollars more for four wheel than the front wheel disc brake kit. The pain in the butt is rerouting the brake lines and the parking brake. My kit also came with the proper master cylinder for use with 4 wheel discs. Otherwise you will need to get a WilWood adjustable proportioning valve. The rear brakes are off an 80-85 Cadillac Seville.

Re: disc brake rear end....

Ok, better yet, anyone have the measurements off of a stock rear end? Wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface (wms-wms)? Im about to see what I can find to slap under my 64 when I swap out the front for 5 lug stuff, if I can even find a bit narrower rear end, that would be great!
