Re: 79 sierra
Swap out the mirrors (my preference)
Drop it to the ground.... Buy some sick looking wheels... Maybe... even chop the frame and make it a SWB... but I'm partial to the shorty's! Seriously, does it run well, or have any major issues at the moment? If so, and you aren't planning on tearing it apart completely, fix those issues first. Get the truck running efficiently and then start customizing. By the way... love the Camaro in your Avatar... any other pics?

Re: 79 sierra
I think you should immediately drive it over to Port Huron MI and hand me the keys. I'll even let you drag away my 81 junker (it's too rough to rat rod if that gives you an idea..) and I'll throw in my 2 ton truck. If you sweet talk me I'll trade you my 87 diesel.
Personally, I like the mirrors (looks like a truck) and I'd lose the running boards (looks like a little old lady owns it) and the bed rails ((little old man who never puts anything in it). I like the 79 just above this post, simple, clean, and a truck not a confused car wannabe with lots of headroom. If you're going to drive it in the winter don't lower it more than 2" in front (been hung on too many snowbanks...). My wife's theory is keep it simple but do it well. Oddly enough she seems to be able to pick out the winners at the car shows (except the "most chrome" guy). Last edited by D13; 02-23-2008 at 04:19 PM. |

Re: 79 sierra
leave the mirrors alone until you can do the bodywork and re-paint them --- seeing a truck with sport mirrors, but bolts or bare holes in the doors looks ghetto--
Find some 18 or 20 " wheels and call it good. As far as performance goes, the 305 is limiting, but for about 4 or 500 bucks, you can put a 150 shot of nitrous on it (plate system) and surprise some people -- just spray it til' it blows, then plan on something bigger -- (but it might not blow it with 150 pills right away -- the 305's are hardy little animals)

Re: 79 sierra
well youve already popped off the running boards so id do up the body and put rims on it and leave it alone

Re: 79 sierra
Streetstar its funny you say that cause i was thinking of taking the plate of my race car for just for fun until it blows and look at a 350 or something because the 305 is a little gimp on horse power but we'll see where it goes.
