Boxing Plate

Hey can you guys tell me what size metal is commonly used for boxing the frame on a 47-53 ive been told 1/8" and 16 ga.

I would use 10ga. or 1/8" they're pretty close to the same thickness.

Thanks i thought 16 seemed to thin.
