68 frame same as 67?
I'm working on tearing down my 68 sb and have found a 67 frame that has been sandblasted and painted chassis black. The 67 frame has a automatic trans crossmember already in it, my 68 does not. This was a state dept of highway truck and might be 3/4 ton, mine is half ton. Is there a difference or can I use this frame without trouble? My frame is pretty rusty and this one is only selling for $300 rolling chassis. I guess my question is are the frames the same?

'67 "supposedly" doesn't have the dimple for power steering gearbox. '68 does.

Some 68's didn't have the dimple.
If the 3/4 ton frame is a coil spring frame, then it has a few spots of added bracing... a good thing. Otherwise, the only difference you'll find, is you'll need to get cab mounts for a 3/4 ton, they are taller than 1/2 ton. Otherwise, they are the same. |

Andy, Will the cab mount kit for a 1/2 ton work on a 3/4 ton or are the 3/4 ton frame brackets lower? Reason I ask is because I just bought a 1/2 ton kit to use on a 3/4 ton truck so the cab don't sit so high.... The kit I bought includes the 1/2 ton core support bushings too. LockDoc

right, and I think it is just the rear mounts. (I could be wrong) but if you install the wrong ones, the bed won't line up,a nd the fenders will be mounted at an angle.
