Re: Come on guys! Where are the best prices

I used Zig's in Oregon
They use TCI and Heidt's, about $3000 for the front and rear.
See my build.
If your into cheap do the S10 thing.
If you want it more better get the old (1982+) Corvette stuff.
Just gotta keep them old trucks on da road!

Re: Come on guys! Where are the best prices

.................. OR you could use a Dodge Dakota 86 - 90

Rack and pinion, 5 lug, ford pattern. and a 9" ford rear
Turck suspension for a truck!!

If you are that concerned about the cost of the foundation you may want to reevaluate your finished budget!

Re: Come on guys! Where are the best prices

I just want a daily driver. Im willing to pay $1500 for IFS with bads and probably $1000 for the rear with bags. I have a few people in mind that can do the work cause I know the labor aint cheap. I just want a decent setup for a daily driver thats not gonna kill my pockets. Its not a show truck just want it upgraded?

Looks like a perfect donor car, whole drive train!!
Who is it that sells the X-member kit, Flat Out engineering, or Industrial Chassis Inc?

Re: Come on guys! Where are the best prices

good luck in finding an IFS with bags and the front sway bar for 1500. TCI with all the upgrades 12 inch brakes, front sway bar, pwr rack and powdered coated A-arms with bags 2800 to the door. U can get the base for that but not the bags and upgrades for that price.. U can probably get the rear 4-link and bags for about a grand if you have the rearend or get a rearend out of the junk yard. Me I going with all new stuff no use parts in the drive train, new front end, new currie 9-inch with 13 brakes, with a late model ls1 one thing is when its done its done and wont have to ever go back in it to put something in I should have done when apart may take longer but the results is way better to wait for than just to get it running. Get a budget and a plan together and meet your yearly goals, mine is on a three year build with about 16-18k going in it and thats with everything new in it. Build it right the first time around and you will be happier in the long run building your ride.

Re: Come on guys! Where are the best prices

honestly I didnt want to spend more than 6k on my drivetrain including labor. I have a 96 lt1 with a 4l60e out of a camaro already to go in. Im not looking for a show car just a nice rider that I can drive every day and chunck stuff in the back for my other projects. I have a 69 427SS impala thats all original and a el camino that is in a process of a frame off and trust me I know what it cost to do it all new This is something like my beater but just a cool one that drives straight and turns tight with ac and all the good stuff.

Re: Come on guys! Where are the best prices

I agree with 53lochevy. Buy good quality parts that will last while they are easy to install.
One point I would like to make concerns "bags". I have had bags on several Chevy/GMC mini buses. That is a 3/4 ton van with a bus body on it. I have never had a bag to last more than 25,000 miles. For my money I'll go with the coil over shocks.

this is one area that i find interesting, durability and life span of part. if your going for the budget s10 is way to get you rolling on a budget. final part is lots of sweat and busted knuckles!

So with a 6K budget and you said you already had the drive train you should have money left over for wheels and tires if you chose the right welder and maybe forget the air bags and compressor.

Re: Come on guys! Where are the best prices

Well I been searching this exact same thing. I hated the PO of Zig's (i used to work there) they now have new owners. I don't really much care for him either but they do have the best price for the package your after. I too want the same thing and with all the scouring the internet here are a couple things that you will find.

----Zig's suspension package #3 (quoted 3300 delivered with power rack)
1. Comes with airbags front and rear.
2. Drop or standard spindles at no extra charge (this one is a biggy) everyone else wants to charge more to change to drop spindles.
You have to add 100.00 for power rack, and I think its another 70 for the rack extensions for our trucks but you must verify that part.
3. included the bracket, pedal assy, and master cyl, booster as well.

Zigs Truck Suspension Packages

Also No shipping charges. This too is big when comparing to other companies some will charge huge freight shipping on these parts.

Hope this helps its the best deal I can find anywhere so.. if anyone can beat that please let me know as well too. Its the first thing I'm doing to my 57 once the 71 is done at the end of summer.
