My truck is way too loud.... Is yours?
I just put new insulation and carpet in my floor as well as some extra heat sheild however my truck is still SO LOUD!
I am running 40 series dual flow masters with turndowns. I dont know if I'm just getting old or what but with the mufflers, leaky wing windows, and road noise it's almost uncomfortable to ride in. I just put over a thousand dollars worth of stereo equipment in it and you can barley hear one over the other.... Anyone else got this same problem? What did you do to your truck to make it a little mroe "noise friendly?" Thanks! |

Maybe run the pipes all the way out the back?

Re: My truck is way too loud.... Is yours?
I don't have a radio in mine yet so the road noise was driving me nuts. I replaced all of the window and door rubber and it made a huge difference probably about half the noise. Still too loud though, I don’t have anything on the floor or a head liner so I’ll be dynomating the hole inside including inside the doors and the ceiling. That’ll be after I make it an extra cab so it’ll be a while.

I'm running a set of 50 series 3-chamber Flowmasters on my blazer with an "H" pipe in front of the tranny crossmember. Flowmaster sound,... just not as loud.

The trick is to run the pipes all the way out to rear bumper.

Mine's too loud too, but probably for a different reason...

I have dual hooker aerochambers 2.5" inlets, dumped at the axle. Going to finish it out and add a magnuson 122. Love the whine

Re: My truck is way too loud.... Is yours?
As a couple of the other guys have said, run the pipes out the back; at least behind the wheels and out from under the truck.

Re: My truck is way too loud.... Is yours?
Ive got dual 2.5" walker quiet flows, and people still say my trucks too loud.
Its my work truck though, not a play thing, going at 70 for two hours gets annoying, but my camaro has some cherry bomb super turbos with full tail pipes out the rear, used to be alot louder dumped right before the axle. So seals, sound deadner, and full tails would probably help.

Re: My truck is way too loud.... Is yours?
Get rid of the short exhaust and do a good set of duals out the back. The mufflers will be just right at that end.

Re: My truck is way too loud.... Is yours?
Mine is loud, has a nice rumble to it. 3" pipe and cheap 3" in and out Summit mufflers. Once the rat gets a cam and intake, it will have more rumble to it.
Almost everything I have owned has been loud to the point of obnoxious, its getting old having the entire vehicle vibrate and shake, not hearing the stereo, and setting off car alarms... ok, its not old at all. I am starting to use tail pipes though. |

Re: My truck is way too loud.... Is yours?
So what age are all of us that are running loud pipes? I have dual 40s on my truck and I am age 55---guess I will never grow up. I do have full length exhaust pipes, though.
