drop hanger measurements

I was wondering if anyone knew the actual difference in measurements between a 2 inch drop Hanger and a stock hanger. I specifically am wondering the difference between the spring mounting points. From what I remember from geometry class it won't actually be 2 inches but I've never had the drop and stock hanger at the same time.

Re: drop shackle measurements

I don't know, but maybe the difference is 2" and the drop isn't exactly 2". Just a thought.

Re: drop shackle measurements

Are you refering to "shackles only" or an entire "drop hanger"?
Your assumption would be correct, that you don't get total drop by only moving one end of the spring.
But, a full drop hanger kit, would move both ends, resulting in more drop.

Re: drop shackle measurements

I originally mistitled the thread and said shackles instead of hangers. I am actually getting a friend to fab some hangers for my full size blazer and needed to find out what the difference between the original and drop hangers were so we could see if it was even doable. I have 2 inch drop shackles already I installed with some fillerneck mods and was trying to engineer the hangers.

Re: drop shackle measurements

Well, you have to raise both ends of the spring 4" to get a full 4" drop. If you only raise one end 4", then all you get is about a 2" drop since the axle is approximately in the middle of the spring. Make sense?
