Dakota Digital Dash Problem

We just installed a Dakota Digital dash in a 71 Blazer.
After shutting off the car the dash looses all of it's programming.
Has anyone had this problem?
Any clue as to the problem?
It says not to hook it up to a constant 12v source.
Is there a battery back-up in the module?

Ya might want to post this in the main 67-72 section as there are probably more guys with pickups that may have the dakota dashes.

I have dakota in mine,,cant remember about the wiring,cant see it either since im in the great area of baghdad at the moment, But I would call them,,they are great to work with and i havent had any issues.
