My Problem,, venting.....

My problem isnt anything technical.....Its mental....I am a scaterbrain!!! I love cars and trucks so much that I am compulsive.......the trill of the hunt is so fun I cant seem to actually complete one of my trucks!... and I got a bunch!.... My 96 z71 I need to go thew the trans again, my 89 2500 has a bad motor, my 84 shortbed needs a bumper to bumper once over, my mud truck is just a couple of chassis, motors, transfer case, and sheetmetal...basicly a pile of parts....my 82 shorty is still unfinished.....my 84 long bed 4x4 I sold the 6.2 out of... I still havent put the new motor in....The only damn truck I got that I can drive is my 04 z71...... And you know what....Every spare second I get I am pulling in someones drive asking if that old truck is for sale....as if I dont have enough...... I need help......really....everyone tells me...just sell all the ones you dont want....problem is....I want em all..... Guess I just need to stop buying and start fixing....But when I hunt for a part I need, I always end up getting another project out of the deall...I tell myself that I will just use it for parts.....ha...if I realy meant that........lol.. Dont really have a point to this post...mods can delete it if they wish.....just wanted to vent as I really do have a problem lol....

It's called automotive A.D.D. and it's quite common. Try to minimize the amount of projects you have. When you get bored with one, "focus" on another rather than "buying" another.

Re: My Problem,, venting.....

i discovered that by having one project and working on that instead of having 5-10 projects with pipedreams that i got alot more done on the one

Re: My Problem,, venting.....

I have/had one project truck. I finished it. I drive it. It's more fun that way

But, I'm "dumb" enough to tear it back apart and put a fleet bed on it

Re: My Problem,, venting.....

I used to be like that for tools and firearms. Hard to stop until well there is no cure just gotta stop being compulsive. Unless ya have a plan to be like the boards Mr. Hanney (Green Acers)Teeitup Randy from the Mid west. Sell them parts. Use them dollars to finish the ones ya really need.

I know the feeling... I just bought another one yesterday. I have finished a few but I have three projects in the works now.

It's more widespread than you think.

Leon's prblem is escalated due to him living 1/2 mile away from a junk yard.

I have the same problem but my truck acqusition is limited by budget and lack of space. I do have problem with other things though. I start remodeling a room in the house and get sidetracked by something else. I still have to finish the front entry. its only been 3 years.

the way I see it is you dont die until you are finished.

Re: My Problem,, venting.....

A lot of us have it! Finally got my diagnosis, " motor head with ADHD". The new medicine is helping. Haven't bought anything (vehicle) in a couple of years and am actually working on the stuff I already own! If I live along enough, I'll get something finished. I always GREATLY admire the guys who can get a vehicle, or anything for that matter, actually finished.

Thats what its called! I have been doing this for years. Got a driveway full now. At one point and time I had 22 cars and trucks.

Re: My Problem,, venting.....

Well....I got another one....BUT to my defense.....they spotted mine and knocked on my door...I said no but they insisted...I told them I had no money.....they said thats fine I just need it gone...give me $500..... Couldnt help it...rust free....350/400th... 4in superlift..........uhhhhhhh ugly terrible green paint should be gone within the month....should be an easy truck.. Plan is to flip this one... its actually too complete and solid for me to love it.. I don;t like em unless its 60% complete and full of rust...
