Apprasial Please, Potential Purchase!!! 67 Long Bed, L6
Hey Guys,
I looked at a super nice 67 long bed today, 3 on the tree and a strait 6, 6 lug. Second owner, bought it from a lot a few months ago, shows 83 on the odo. Looks all original, very small amounts of rust, mainly in the front of the pass. fender, both kick quarter panels look good. Small amounts of surface rust showing, but after a quick sand and paint should be taken care of. It is a super basic ride, super smooth, great shifting. I'm in love with it, but I always like hearing other opinions. Plans are to maybe drop a 327 in and an a833, lowering 3/5. Nothing radical, truck would be my daily driver. Guy is asking 2000, talked him down to 1800 What do you guys think? |

I agree---that is a 1500 to 2000 dollar truck at the cheapest.

Go for it, but if it's running good right now, enjoy it as is - maybe put some tunes in it, but appreciate the originality.

I don't want to rain on your parade. You are looking at a 41 year old truck. Judging by the close up picture it shows signs of significant rust under the surface. I have worked on 2 cars from CA that looked this good and a quick sand and paint will be just that. It will not "take care of it". The rust will still be there. To "take care of it" requires media blasting. That's the reality.
What I like is the low mileage. You should check if it has ever been in an accident. If it is really going to be your daily driver then my philosophy is to upgrade to a modern drivetrain, like a 5.3L gen III motor and 4L60E. You asked for opinions and this is just mine. Offer him $1000 cash, not a penny more...... |

Re: Apprasial Please, Potential Purchase!!! 67 Long Bed, L6
hmm, interesting. He won't go a cent less than 1800, I offered 1500, then 1750, we settled at 1800. When I say daily driver, I mean this will be my only driver, but by no means will I have to drive it every day. I'm going to grad school for two years so I'll have a bit of time to do a little body work. I can also get the 327 and ford 9 inch rear end for near free.
I'm thinking of picking it up, doing body work when I can and saving up on a proper lowering kit, then go from there. |

If that truck was in southwest NY it would have 4K or more on it, and it would have sold for that.
$,1800 is more than a fair price for it.

Honestly it is tough to determine the value from just a few pictures. Please provide the owners phone number and I will stop by and take a look at it and let you know.

It really looks like a solid truck, but I would be leary about the bright white overspray on the passenger side door and rocker. Who knows what could be hiding there. Find out as much as you can before you purchase it though.

Re: Apprasial Please, Potential Purchase!!! 67 Long Bed, L6
I say go for it, even if you do end up finding some rust so what we have almost all dealt with it in these trucks and replacement panels are cheap. This truck looks to be pretty solid though and is a good start to go in whatever direction you chose. Good luck and just have fun with it!
