Transfer case Timkin 221
Hi I just joined and picked up a 69 C20 4x4 and have a question on the 4 wheel drive. While shifting from 2 wheel when I pull it back it goes right to nuetrual and then 4 low, I don't seem to find 4 high? Any thought? Could this be a linkage problem. Here a pic of the truck, I just picked it up yesterday

Re: Transfer case Timkin 221
Here's the shift pattern
On mine, it just took a little shifter movement to get from 2wd high to 4wd high - almost hit or miss. I doubt linkage alignment is a problem, but you can adjust both of the shift rails to see if that is the problem. Oh, BTW, welcome to the board - very cool truck. Be sure to go to the 4x4 subforum and say hello in a post.

Thanks Yukon, Funny I want to get rid of the wooden rack body and weld up a steel head board and While searching on the net came across your truck, Any pictures of the back for design ideas? I really haven't played with the shifter yet but on the quick try I thought it missed 4 high, I will try again tonight.

Good lookin' truck! for what it's worth, you should have a rockwell 221, not a timken. also, my old rockwell was similar to what you're experiencing. You had to be careful going into 4HI, or I'd go right past it and be in neutral. and then it's a PITA to get into 4HI w/o stopping.

That is pretty funny, my truck gets around I guess.
Here's an album with a lot of pics of my flatbed being built.
